'The Bachelorette' News: 'The Bachelor' Season 21 Contestant Rachel Lindsay Cast as First Black Bachelorette

Rachel Lindsay is confirmed to be the next woman to look for love in season 13 of "The Bachelorette." This also marks the first time that ABC has cast a black woman for the role.

Rachel Lindsay may seem familiar to fans of the franchise, as she is currently one of the remaining women still vying for the heart of Nick Viall in "The Bachelor" season 21. As of now, she is still in the running and this is the first time that ABS announced the name of the next bachelor or bachelorette while they have not been eliminated for the from the present show they are currently in, as reported by The A.V. Club. This, of course, confirms that she will not be the final woman to win Viall's heart.

U.S. Magazine reports that Lindsay, who is actually an attorney from Texas, has actually appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," where she confirms her participation in the next season of "The Bachelorette." Series creator Mike Fleiss also tweeted what appears to be a confirmation. Despite not naming anybody, he said that he is "very happy about the overwhelming support for our new #TheBachelorette."

The show has long received criticism for not being diverse enough in the past seasons. Even ABC President Channing Dungey said that she would like to see changes in the franchise and that there should be more diverse leads cast. But Well Adams from season 12 of "The Bachelorette" says that she thinks that America sadly not embrace it.

But host Chris Harrison claims that Lindsay would be great in the lead, as even though she is strong and independent, she can be sweet as well.
