‘Black Mirror’ News: Artist Illustrates Episodes Into Comic Book Covers

Dec 13, 2016 11:16 AM EST

"Black Mirror," the cult British science fiction TV series that has been recently picked up by Netflix, has received one amazing tribute recently.

An artist who goes by the name of Butcher Billy has recently released his old school comic book illustrations of popular episodes of the TV series. Sharing his work on Twitter, he shows fans his idea of how things will look like if the show was a comic book.

Some of the featured art of the Charlie Brooker series includes recent episodes "Nosedive" and "San Junipero," as well as old ones like "White Bear," "The Entire History of You," and the chilling first ever episode, "The National Anthem."

"Black Mirror" so far has had two season/series and a Christmas special under British network Channel Four. The third one was commissioned by Netflix, with six episodes being released in October. Some of the biggest stars that have appeared on the episodes include Rory Kinnear, Hayley Atwell, Domhnall Gleeson, Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Mackenzie Davis.

Davis, who starred alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw in the critically-acclaimed "San Junipero," got her own Butcher Billy illustration with text that read "heaven is a place on earth," a recurring song in the episode.

"Butcher Billy takes what is considered pop culture from a variety of sources - music, comics, movies, games etc - and mashes them all together to come up with something that draws on nostalgia, while, at the same time, provides the audience with a fresh take on a familiar scene," says the description of the shop where the prints can be bought as prints, shirts, sweaters, iPhone cases, laptop cases, and other merchandise.

Butcher Billy's art has reached Brooker, who took to Twitter saying: "@billythebutcher so good! gonna have to order prints of these - how might I do that?"
