AMD Zen CPU Release Date, News & Update: Trademarked As ‘RyZen’ & ‘ThreadRipper,' Advance Preview Date Revealed

AMD Zen CPU is highly anticipated since this next generation CPU sparks a comparison between Intel and AMD. Aside from that, many are also curious about its product name and its features.

While everyone is hooked up waiting for the AMD Zen CPU release date, TweakTown revealed some details about the alleged trademark name of the product. According to the Reddit user, the Zen CPU could be named RyZen which is said to be a combination of Rise + Zen.

Aside from Ryzen, other trademarked names for the upcoming AMD Zen processors are ThreadRipper, Grok, Joro, Jitzu and Vara. The trademark ThreadRipper, which was filed in October 2016, also stands out like RyZen. As for the RyZen trademark, it was filed on July 2016 by AMD, WCCFTech reported.

The AMD Zen CPU is based on a 14nm FinFET process and it is said to have a base clock of 3.2GHz and a turbo clock of 3.5GHz. The Advanced Micro Devices has a performance target of 40-percent in IPC performance versus its 28nm Excavator core and Bulldozer processor.

The sophisticated processor will allegedly be previewed in a Geoff Keighley-hosted event set on December 13. But it isn't certain yet if the trademark RyZen will be used since its availability is reportedly scheduled on January 2017.

Said sneak peak event at Austin, Texas could be live streamed at 1 p.m. PST and 4 p.m. ET on December 13. Interested parties are encouraged to sign up at the AMD website to have free access of the exclusive preview of the AMD Zen CPU event on Dec. 13, 2016, PC World reported.

The public invitation also added that there will be giveaways and special guests during the event. It will also be the first time that the public will be given the opportunity to see and try the processor's capabilities.
