Princess Beatrice Cuts Face Of Ed Sheeran With Sword! 'Thinking Out Loud' Singer Gets Stitches When Slashed By Princess Of York

Nov 29, 2016 08:09 AM EST

Ed Sheeran sports a gash under his eye after a role-play knighting ceremony took a wrong turn. Princess Beatrice of York swung the sword into Sheeran's face, instead of lightly tapping it on James Blunt's shoulder. The singer reportedly had to get the wound stitched up after the slashing incident.

News.com.au reports, the incident occurred when James Blunt cheekily said he would like to become a "Sir". Then, the Princess of York performed a mock-knighting ceremony, which she totally mishandled by cutting Ed Sheeran's face, who was behind her.

The singer was invited to dinner with more or less 20 guests by Princess Beatrice, which left everyone in shock. But, Ed was reportedly cool about the unfortunate event and did not make a big fuzz out of it. However, it left the "Photograph" singer a slashed face, which was stitched up in the hospital.

After being treated, Sheeran went back to the royal soiree and assured everybody that he was alright. Princess Beatrice was so upset of her clumsiness but was later on relieved when the singer came back.

According to Entertainment.ie, Sheeran just shrugs it off and performed a concert the night after in London O2 Arena. He was seen on photos with fans, who had speculations about the wound on his cheek. Interestingly, Ed also got into a scary incident involving a sword before. While on the Red tour in 2013, a prop sword that he got from Peter Jackson nearly impaled his buddy Taylor Swift.

The royal incident that almost blinded him is one for the books. But for safety reasons, the ginger-head British singer should stay away from swords. The singer, who is dating Cherry Seaborn, has been reported to be working on a third album and is set released in 2017.
