Z World Detroit: Zombie Theme Park Coming to Michigan (Maybe)

Jul 05, 2012 08:07 PM EDT

Imagine that you and your friends, along with others, are the survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Suddenly, a small, but growing, group of zombies is unleashed onto the urban landscape. Now you have to find supplies, pick a hideout, protect your group or find a new alliance if separated. If you’re lucky, you can survive the night without turning into a zombie yourself.

This is the scenario that awaits crowds at Z World Detriot, a proposed zombie theme park. The experience is intended to be an overnight, immersive adventure, and it’s described as “a sprawling and chaotic real-life video game and the strangest camping trip of your life.” There’s no ammunition to use. Instead, players focus on tear-away patches. When a players patches are gone, that player becomes a zombie. If a zombie’s patches are taken off, they are eliminated. Collecting high numbers of patches and surviving as long as possible will result in incentives.

While the park seems well-thought out, with diagrams and a promotional video. To get the necessary fundng, Mark Siwak has posted his project idea on the Indiegogo website. There, interested people can donate to the project, with the idea being to raise a “goal” amount by a certain time. So far, the project has raised slightly more than $5,100. It has a goal of reaching $145,000 by August 10.

If the theme park receives enough money to be put into operation , the promoters promise, “You will be chased. You will hide. You will hunt. You will have an experience you will never forget. You will make new friends. You will be exhausted and exhilarated.”
