Reports by BBC News claim that among those in the Kamchatka 43 dead trawler, 78 were Russian whereas 42 were from Myanmar. The remainder of its crew members hailed from Ukraine, Latvia, and Vanuatu. The captain of the trawler was among those confirmed dead.

Additional reports claim that the Dalniy Vostok freezer trawler officially sunk at the Sea of Okhotsk at 6:30 local time. It sunk 330 km west of the Krutogorovsky settlement. "At this time we do not know what might have caused the tragedy," reports a spokesperson, adding, "The rescue operation is going on, we are still looking for 15 people."
