A new viral video of someone experimenting on objects has become viral on YouTube. Titled "Poking A Phone Battery With A Knife Results In Explosion" and published on Mar. 5, 2015, the video has garnered more than 300,000 views.

The caption on the video says, "What happens when a phone battery is smashed or deeply perforated. Boom!"

There may be very few people in this world who would feel compelled to crack open a phone, pull out its battery and go all berserk with the battery, but in case you are one of these people, maybe check out the video below first.

The battery in the video is a lithium-ion battery common in consumer electronics because of their high energy density. They reportedly contain no memory effect, and only they only have slow loss of charge when not in use. However, they can be dangerous under some conditions, even posing a safety hazard because of a flammable electrolyte, thus continually poking at one with a sharp knife may not be a good idea.
