Lost Disney film found - Long before Mickey Mouse became an iconic Disney character cartoon, there was the original Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The film was lost over the years but was surprisingly found in the uncanny of places, which was a library found in Norway close to the Arctic Circle.

The lost Disney film found entitled, "Empty Socks," dates back to the year 1927 and features Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was the character created by Disney and by Ub Iwerks. The only ever known footage of Oswald in the "Empty Socks" film is currently in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. It however lasted only 25 seconds long.

The great news about the lost Disney film found in Norway is that it runs for five minutes and 30 seconds. Unluckily though, a minute in between the film is still missing. Library archivists, who came upon the film, had earlier thought it was a cartoon on Felix the Cat.

"At the beginning, we didn't know it was a lost cinematographic treasure," says Kvale Soerenssen, in a report by Huffington Post. "The film was in two reels which weren't clearly labelled."

Aside from the lost Disney film found, "Empty Socks," another film treasure was uncovered. Library archivists stumbled upon another film about Oswald entitled, "Tall Timber." The film was made in the year 1928 and was the last film on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

A quick history recap on the lost Disney film found, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, reveals that this character was made for Universal Studios. Walt left in 1927 but Oswald the Rabbit continued to be created for the studio. Universal Studios continued to run cartoons on Oswald from the year 1930 to the year 1940.

The lost Disney film found in Norway has already been digitized and sent to The Walt Disney Co.
