He may be known for the "Superman" song, but he may not be flying anytime soon. Soulja Boy was recently kicked off of a flight because he was being disrespectful and causing a scene on board.

The 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was on an American Airlines flight on Friday when the flight attendant announced over the intercom that everyone needed to sit down before the flight departed. Soulja Boy was standing and walking around the aisles and refused to follow the command, TMZ reports.

A flight attendant approached the young man and once again told him to sit down and explained what would happen if he didn't obey her. He decided to blow the woman off. As a result, he was removed from the plane.

It is not clear why the musician chose to disobey the flight attendant when everyone else was seated.

TMZ spoke to Soulja Boy who apologized for the incident and tried to give an excuse for his behavior.

"It was a bad night and me and the flight staff didn't see eye to eye. In hindsight, I'm extremely sorry for all inconvenience caused to the passengers and employees of the airline," he told TMZ.

According to his Twitter account, Soulja Boy had been in Miami and he was heading to Brazil for his world tour. It is not clear if this if where he was supposed to fly on the American Airlines flight.

He also tweeted Virgin America, American Airlines' competitor and said "@VirginAmerica best airlines." The airline replied, saying "@souljaboy Xo."

Soulja Boy isn't the only celebrity to get kicked off a plane before it took off. In 2011, actor, Alec Baldwin was kicked off an American Airlines flight when he refused to turn off his cell phone because he was playing a game. Baldwin was told that he would be kicked off the flight if he didn't listen to the flight attendant's request. He continued to disobey and was removed from the plane.
