Adam Sandler is dead. At least that's the rumor going around the Internet and social media sites. However the comedian/actor didn't die. He's just the victim of an internet death hoax that keeps on resurfacing.

Many are coming across a fake news report saying that Sandler is dead. Global Associated News, which is notorious for starting false celebrity death rumors, says "Actor Adam Sandler is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today - June 12, 2013."

The site claims that Sandler died in a snowboarding incident at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland.

"Witnesses indicate that Adam Sandler lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed," the report reads. "Adam Sandler was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."

Since there are so many details to the accident, it is easy to believe that it's real, but Global Associated News creates fake news reports.

A message at the bottom of the site reads: "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes!"

Sandler is not dead.  He's gearing up for his new movie "Grown Ups 2."

Pranksters have been trying to kill off Sandler for several months. The same exact death hoax has been going around for months and even all the way back in 2010. Someone notices the fake Global Associated News report and then word about his supposed death spreads around social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

A Facebook page was created called "R.I.P. Adam Sandler." The page has over 86,000 "Likes. When the hoax first started, the admin of the page would photos of Sandler with messages of condolence to try to keep the hoax going. Now it is flooded with spam.

Those on Twitter are starting to believe the rumor as more and more people discuss it and question whether or not it's really true.

Examples of some Tweets include:

"Adam sandler has died :( fave actor :( "

"Is this a joke?Adam Sandler has died, omg kill me now! :'("

"IF adam sandler is dead and isn't lies I will be truly devastated :("

"I still can't believe Adam Sandler is dead, he was one of my favorite actors!"

Celebrity death hoaxes have become a trend this year on the internet. Global Associated News is often the source of many death hoaxes, but they are also started on social media sites.

Some other celebrities who became victims of a death hoax in recent months include actor Denzel Washington, actor Jim Carrey, TV host Jerry Springer, musician Skrillex, Rapper Lil Wayne, Actor Vince Vaughn, Tom Kenny, the voice behind SpongeBob Squarepants, country singer Taylor Swift, legendary actor Morgan Freeman, Comedian Bill CosbyAlfonso Ribeiro aka Carlton from the Fresh Prince, and Bill Nye the Science Guy have all been victims of death hoaxes within the past few weeks. All of these celebrities are just fine.
