An archipelago located in the county of Nordland, Lofoten is one of the most popular places to head to for those who want to catch the aurora borealis. However, it has also become a go-to destination for anyone who wants to enjoy the water and the beach even during the winter.

Due to its nature as an archipelago, travelers can enjoy a number of water-related activities while in Lofoten. And yes, these activities can be enjoyed even when it's snowing. 

These water-related activities include diving, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, and surfing. For those who enjoy fishing in particular, head to the archipelago during the start of the year as it is the time the Northeast Arctic cod heads back to the fjords to spawn.
