It looks like the "Star Wars" character Obi-Wan Kenobi might still be played by Ewan McGregor, as the actor has stated he is still open to doing the role. As for a possible standalone movie for the Jedi master, McGregor said there doesn't seem to be a plan yet.

In a recent interview with Business Insider, McGregor said that he would be "happy" to do the character again if the studio wants him to do it. He mentioned that he was actually being asked a lot about Kenobi.

McGregor was the last actor who played the Jedi master on screen, and he recently lent his voice on the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." McGregor's voice can be heard during the dream sequence of Rey (Daisy Ridley) after she touched Luke Skywalker's lightsaber.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has been an impactful character in the "Star Wars" universe, according to ComicBook. The character has made an appearance in the entire main saga installment, whether as a ghost, as a real person, or as a voice.

Kenobi even appeared in both of the franchise's canon cartoon series, the "Star Wars Rebels" and the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." McGregor's last main role as Obi-Wan Kenobi was in "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith," but there are rumors that the Jedi master might have its own spinoff movie.

But it looks like MacGregor wasn't approached yet to reprise the role if there really is a movie in the works. He said that he thinks the studio is already "set going into the 2030s with their movies." But he did say that he would "be happy to do it," considering how fun it would be.

His only request was that if they do decide to ask him to do play Obi-Wan Kenobi again, he wouldn't be "older than Alec Guinness was" when the actor played the Jedi master in "Star Wars: A New Hope." Check out McGregor's last lightsaber battle as Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars Episode III."
