There were rumors recently saying that Jimmi Simpson may be back for "Westworld" Season 2. That's highly unlikely, but what's confirmed is that Simpson's older version in the series, which is played by Ed Harris, will be back.

Cinema Blend reported that it would make sense that Simpson would not be called to reprise his role, because we have already seen William's story, and that should be enough. Simpson said in an interview that Season 2 is unclear, but he would not be surprised if his character would make a reappearance in Season 3.

According to Screen Rant, "Westworld" has a lot of unanswered questions. Like when Harris' character was looking for a mysterious maze. Harris confirmed that he will back for Season 2 in a previous interview, and the maze mystery will hopefully be resolved in the upcoming season.

Regarding the release date, HBO programming president at HBO said that it's likely to be in 2018 because of how big the world is and what goes into shooting it. A lot of reports have speculated that Season 2 would probably premiere in October of next year.

Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy said that "Westworld" Season 2 is going to deal with the hosts' construction and power source, and that "they're closer to biological than they are mechanical." They also added that the upcoming season will explore more about "nuts and bolts of what they are" as the hosts are trying to understand themselves.

The plot of season is kept under wraps, but the official "Westworld" website may hold some clue. A game on the website hints at a robot apocalypse, and there are also suggestions that Hector and Armistice are still alive. Also, the game hints that Dolores and Wyatt have somehow become a single entity with one personality.
