In celebration of International Women's Day, all women will get to enjoy free entrance to Italy's museums and cultural destinations. There are over 100 museums around the country that will hold talks and showcase women's art throughout history.

A couple of heritage sites in Italy will concentrate on women authors and artists, or regions dedicated to women, and appreciating the representation of women in art through crafts and paintings. The Local has stated the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as saying that they want to celebrate the feminine world with a series of events.

The Museo Nazionale Romano: Terme di Diocleziano in Rome will hold a tour and discuss the women during Roman Times while the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice will study the representation of women in the city's art, Lonely Planet reports.

Moreover, the statue of Venus in a Bikini will be displayed in its founding location at the House of Venus in Bikini at Pompeii for the said day only. The Ministry's Instagram, @museitaliani, will feature 30 images, paintings and sculptures of women, handpicked by the country's top art historians.

The ministry will be portraying women of different backgrounds like "saints and prostitutes, goddesses and commoners, intellectuals and artists, actresses and martyrs, writers and poets, mothers, Madonnas, and revolutionaries," according to their press release.

Italy would like to invite locals and visitors alike to join in their digital treasure hunt, finding paintings and artworks of the featured women in museums, taking their pictures and uploading their photos with the hashtag #8marzoalmuseo.

Catch different artworks in the country like the statue of Ophelia, the bust of Madame de Staël, portrait of Laura Dianti, a self- portrait of Rosalba Carriera, and the 1929 painting of Princess Maria Josè Piedmont. People can search which museum is a lot closer in their region here.
