If you are a "Dragon Ball Super" fan, you would know that when a major character, like Goku, for example, turns into his Super Saiyan form, his hair color changes. This is an interesting design choice, and it highlights the character's change into his much stronger form, but why does their hair color have to change?

According to Movie Pilot, the Super Saiyan transformation is one of the most iconic design changes of "Dragon Ball Super." Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan or Goten's hair color would change from dark or purple to blonde once they reach this transformation level.

Akira Toriyama, the creator of the "Dragon Ball" franchise, has finally spoken up. Toriyama said that the color change has something to do with practicality. He explained that he gave Goku a blond hair so that it "wouldn't be as much work" for his assistant. "He spent a lot of time blacking in Goku's hair, and I had to erase over it. It was a real pain," Toriyama said.

ComicBook reported that the Super Saiyan state was a problematic one. Some groups accused the series of promoting Aryan values because the look closely associated blonde hair and blue eyes with inhuman power. Also, it was argued that "Dragon Ball" was promoting Nazi beliefs.

But then, these claims are unfounded, however, fans are left wondering why the Super Saiyan state drastically changes the fighter's appearance - especially the hair. Finally, all these speculations are debunked.

Now, about the other physical changes of the main characters of "Dragon Ball Super", Toriyama revealed that he based the new look off a familiar icon. He said that Goku's eyes are based from Bruce Lee. The paralyzing look where he glares is what he wanted in the Freeza arc. "Once Goku gave that look, as far as I was concerned the story arc was over," he added.
