Germany may proudly carry the name of Europe's beer capital, considering its long-standing tradition of producing drafts and lagers dating back as early as the medieval times. However, its neighbors are putting up a good fight in claiming that title. Among these aforementioned European rivals is Poland.

One of the curious facts about Poland is that its people consume an average of 92 liters of beer annually. Although some may consider this obsession with beer as peculiar, there are also concrete reasons that foster such alcoholic frenzy. Beer in Poland seems like the second most important drink after water.

According to The Telegraph, Krakow and Kiev are identified as the cheapest cities to buy beer. The average price of each bottle sold in these cities is equivalent to $1.33. Considering its 'consumer-friendly median cost,' this pretty much explains a fraction of the mystery.

House of Beer

Anyone looking for cheap quality Polish beer is bound to stop by the most obviously-named establishment in Krakow. The House of Beer is a proud importer of craft beer from Belgium, Germany, and Slovakia. This pub even has a section reserved for English stout ales and ciders. This pub is open from 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

Omerta Pub

This pub dedicates a significant percentage of its overall interior design as a tribute to the American classic film, "The Godfather." The most favorite among its assortment is the imported Ukrainian brand. Omerta Pub is open from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Stara Zajezdnia

This watering hole is one of the renowned Polish beer pubs located within the old Jewish Quarter. Apart from introducing a broad flavor spectrum of home brews, Stara Zajezdnia is also serving good traditional Polish and Slavic lunch meals. This pub is open from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM.

C.K. Browar

This pub is known for its Austro-Hungarian beer and traditional Polish cuisine. Sporting an interior design that resembles a classic first class train coach, this pub is open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Multi Qlti Tap Bar

Unlike many Polish beer pubs, Multi Qlti Tap Bar was once a gaudy strip joint. Nowadays the wholesome cartoonish interior wall décor seems anything but its former infamous establishment. This pub opens from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM.
