Google Maps is back for Apple. After receiving months of criticism, it's no surprise that Apple approved a Google Maps app for IOS 6. It's also no surprise that it's the most popular free app within hours of it being approved.

Apple realized that they made a big mistake after they decided to replace Google Maps with its own Apple Maps. While Apple Maps was visually appealing, it was extremely flawed, causing Apple to receive heavy criticism and resulting in Apple CEO Tim Cook having to give an embarrassing public apology, admitting that Apple Maps had issues and encouraging customers to use other products, even the map on the Google Maps website.

Cook promised to improve Apple maps, but it requires a lot of fixing and doesn't quite match up to Google Maps' abilities. Apple Maps had several mistakes including wrongly labeled areas and incorrect directions and it lacked many of the features that users loved about Google Maps, which was always available for Apple product users before September.

As a quick solution to the problem, Google Maps is now back and it's better than ever.

The new app allows you to search for a destination by typing or speaking it. It can find specific addresses for a business of landmark. It provides driving, walking or public transportation directions and it even has voice-guided turn-by-turn directions now. It also provides reviews and ratings  for various places like restaurants and it has street view. Most importantly, it's easy to use.

It's not shocking that within hours of it's release on early Thursday morning, it is the most popular free app in the App Store. Not only that, but has over 8,400 reviews and a complete five star maximum rating.
