"Sword Art Online" fans rejoice! Since the end of season 2 of the anime, fans have been clamoring for a new season of the futuristic anime. While the movie "Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" will be aired in Japan on February 18, the franchise has something more for its loyal fans.

In a recent test screening of the said movie, lucky fans did not just get to see an advance screening of the film, but a special clip also aired that revealed that the season 3 of the anime is coming. On Twitter and in blogs, fans have commented that the third season was announced. Comic Book reports that popular anime blog Yaraon said that the words "Sao will return" were written in the end credits of the movie.

There is no official word yet from A-1 Pictures but many are anticipating that the announcement will probably be made as the movie's premiere nears. In the last episode of season 2 of the anime, Yuuki has died, but before that Kurahashi lets her FullDive. Also, there is the revelation that the Medicuboid designs were actually from Akihiko.

With no official announcement yet, fans of the franchise can just content themselves with the upcoming movie. Epic Stream reports that two new trailers have been released to tease fans on the upcoming film.

"Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" is set after season 2 of the anime. This time, the friends are playing a new game called OS, and based on a device called Augma, which can augment reality. The conflict comes when Kirito and his friends find that the some of the monsters in OS actually came from Aincrad, the world where they were trapped for two years trying to survive.

The movie will be based on a story of Reki Kawahara, the author of the "Sword Art Online" light novel series. The movie will be showing in Japan on February 18 and March 9 in the United States.
