Season 1 of "The Crown" was just released a few months ago, but many viewers of the Netflix series are already clamoring for season 2 news. The biographical drama about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II received positive reactions when it aired, with critics praising everything from the cinematography to the stellar cast.

Joining the award-winning cast for season 2 is none other than English actor Matthew Goode, who will be familiar to fans of "Downton Abbey," where he plays the character of Henry Talbot. TV Line reports that Goode's role will be that of Lord Snowden, a photographer who became the husband of Princess Margaret. Their marriage lasted from 1960 - 1978.

Town and Country Magazine reports that Netflix is planning for the series to last up to season 6. But Claire Foy, who plays the character of Queen Elizabeth II says that she will only be with the show up to season 2. It seems that rather than making use of makeup and prosthetics to age the actors, the show will be recasting everybody.

Season 2 of "The Crown" will show the reign of the queen from around 1954 - 1964. There will also be no time jump when the next season starts. The last episode of season 1, entitled "Gloriana" saw the events surrounding the relationship of Peter Townsend and Princess Margaret. The new season will also show more of the men surrounding Elizabeth, such as Prince Charles and Prince Philip, particularly his back story.

Meanwhile, "The Crown" recently added more prestige to its name as two of its actors won in the recent 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards. Foy won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series while John Lithgow, who plays Winston Churchill won for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. The cast was also nominated for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series but lost to the cast of another Netflix series, "Stranger Things."
