"The Wire" star Dominic West is set to join Alicia Vikander, the popular Lara Croft in the movie revival of "Tomb Raider." West is expected to play as Lara Croft's father and will be named as Lord Richard Croft. However, it was not the first time for West and Vikander to work together in a father-daughter relationship since they had been together also with the previous drama they'd worked on entitled "Testament of Youth."

The character that West will be playing being Vikander's father, was known as an aristocrat and archaeologist in the "Tomb Raider" film. The film is still based on a popular video game. In the original movie, the character of Lara Croft was originally played by Angelina Jolie and her father was played by Jon Voight; the two films were released respectively 2001 and 2003, Newsx reported.

Vikander was known to be attached to the character of Lara Croft last April where Walton Goggins and Daniel Wu was also attached. According to DNA India, MGM and Warner Bros. were able to acquire the rights from GK films which had previously purchased the film in 2011. Graham King is serving the producer while Roar Uthaug will be directing the film.

It has been known that the "Tomb Raider" franchise was able to sold 45 million copies around the world. The original film was published on 1996 by London-based video game company Eidos and went on becoming one of the most successful video games of all time.

Further, Vikander became known for winning Oscar in 2016 in her performance in "The Danish Girl" and even garnered much attention for her performance on "Ex Machine". While on the other side, West starred on Showtime series' "The Affair" which got its recent renewal for its fourth season. The movie revival is scheduled to be released on March 16, 2018.
