"Scandal" season 6 is supposed to air on Thursday but was postponed due to the inaugural episode of Trump. According to the ABC President Channing Dungey it was a hard call for them to push back the episode airing of the TGIT line-up. As what Dungey shared, they had put much effort into the comeback of these shows but have to be moved for the pre-inaugural special of the president.

As per TV Line, "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away with Murder" were supposed to air again on Thursday, January 19 as well as the already delayed premiere of "Scandal" season 6. But just last week it was announced that the inaugural special will be aired instead on that night. This made the TGIT well-promoted shows to move its airing date on January 26 to give way for the president's special segment.

The ABC President explained the switch of schedules and she said that there had been an on-going conversation with ABC News about the airing of inauguration special on Thursday. And according to their conversation, it would be better for them to move all the TGIT shows into the following week including the premiere date of "Scandal" season 6 and have the shows to come out all at once.

Meanwhile, the return of the show on air will also mark its 100th episodes as of the year. As they enter season six, there are still questions on how long this group of gladiators should stick around especially with the upcoming selection of the new president, as per Hollywood Reporter.

Dungey also told the press that they already had talked about it. They had even tackled whether or not season 6 will be the final season of the show. It has been recalled that "Scandal" has arrived into ABC during its struggle in a 9 p.m. hour in fall.
