Valerie Bertinelli, who stars in TVLand's "Hot in Cleveland," is promoting a new cookbook, and is doing talk shows to promote her book, but raunchy radio host Howard Stern got her to discuss much more.

Bertinelli is doing a promotional tour for the release of her very own cookbook, "One Dish at a Time." The book is full of Italian-American recipes from Bertinelli's childhood, but there are also many healthy dishes as Bertinelli knows the importance of staying healthy after her weight loss success.

"There's a wide variety -- some of them are super-healthy, things you can eat freely, and others are super-indulgent that require portion-control," she told Cleveland.com "But that's how I believe you should be eating: I really don't think you should deny yourself anything. You can do it for a while, but eventually that just leads to bingeing - at least, that's how I'd find myself handling it."

The book also contains Dutch and Indonesian recipes, as well as some from Eddie Van Halen's mom, Eugenia, who is her former mother-in-law.

"I wanted the variety of recipes, and stories, in there because I wanted people to know how important food has always been to me all my life - and I wasn't going to be afraid of it anymore," she told Cleveland.com. "Food really isn't the enemy."

While Bertinelli is busy promoting her book on shows like "The View," and various news programs, as well as doing personal book signings, she also took some time to sit down with outrageous radio personality, Howard Stern, who asked her some pretty embarrassing questions.

Stern asked her about her dating director Steven Spielberg when she was 19. According to Twitter user @blssundevil, Stern "asked Valerie Bertinelli if Steven Spielberg's penis is shaped like E.T.'s finger."

On the show, Bertinelli admitted to having a crush on comedian Ricky Gervais and singer Pink.

However one of the most embarrassing moments was when Stern started to discuss her private grooming behavior. See the outrageous interview question here:

Bertinelli is best known for her role as Barbara Cooper Royer on One Day at a Time  from 1974-1984. She also played Gloria on Touched by an Angel from 2001-2003. Now she stars as Melanie Moretti on Hot in Cleveland.

Bertinelli dealt with weight issues for many years. After losing 50 pounds, she became a spokesperson for Jenny Craig.

Bertinelli partially blamed her weight gain on her divorce from Eddie Van Halen. The couple married in April 1981 and had one child together, Wolfgang. In December 2005, Bertinelli filed for divorce and it was finalized in December 2007.
