Arnold Schwarzenegger is dead. At least that's what Twitter and some sources on the internet are saying. However the actor and former California governor didn't die. He's just the latest victim of an internet death hoax.
A false report saying that Schwarzenegger died in a snowboarding incident is getting passed around the internet.
The report by Global Associated News reads:
"Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today -October 16, 2012.
The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Arnold Schwarzenegger lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."
Now fans of the "Terminator" actor and governor believe that he really did die.
However, Global Associated News often produces false celebrity death reports. A message at the bottom of the site reads: "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes!"
Those who are looking for more proof of his death may have come across the Necropedia page that says:
"Arnold Schwarzenegger, born on July 30, 1947 in Thal, was an American actor, politician, business man and bodybuilder. He died on October 17, 2012, at the age of 65.
Tributes have poured in from across the world.
October 17 hasn't happened yet. Necropedia shows an "anticipated obituary," which is "an obituary written BEFORE the death of a person. It is common for news agencies to keep pre-written obituary for public figures, famous and high-profile people who are still alive."
The Terminator isn't dead.
Yet people are taking to Twitter to mourn and question the death of the actor.
Some examples of tweets include:
"R.I.P Arnold Schwarzenegger :o.....Tell me its rumor"
"Arnold Schwarzenegger no more .. Died In Snowboard Accident...! RIP"
"The terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger is dead, he died in a snowboard accident. RIP may god bless his soul, my fav action star of childhood"
"Arnold schwarzenegger died in an accident a few hours ago ! May he R.I.P !"
This isn't the first time that Schwarzenegger was killed off by the internet. There is an "R.I.P. Arnold Schwarzenegger" Facebook Page that has been around since 2010.
Global Associated News allows users to plug in any actor's name into a generator, which creates a fake celebrity death story. Other popular deaths include jet ski accidents, car crashes and more.
