On Saturday morning, a rare tornado warning was issued for parts of New York City, including Brooklyn and Queens.

The tornado touched down in the beachfront neighborhood of Breezy Point, New York in Queens.  Fire fighters responded to the scene and reported downed power lines and damaged cars among other possible damage.

Along with thunderstorms, The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Queens and Brooklyn. The tornado may have threatened large area airports like LaGuardia and JFK.

Hundreds of people received emergency text messages saying that there was a tornado warning for their area.

The warning was in effect through 11:30 a.m.
