Before the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Universal Studios Japan announced that it will open its Mario-themed amusement area to the public. The attraction will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Super Mario Bros. and other Nintendo franchise at Super Nintendo World. Recently, Nintendo provides a first look at what the attraction might look like.

According to Polygon, the Super Nintendo World, which was first revealed in May 2015, will feature "attractions based on many Nintendo titles." The attraction will be built in the Universal Studios theme park in Osaka, Japan, though Nintendo and Universal Studious Japan also have plans to bring Mario and friends to parks in Hollywood, California and Orlando, Florida. Also, Universal Studios plans to open its Nintendo attraction "in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics," the company said in a statement. The development for the Super Nintendo World are "expected to exceed 50 billion yen" (around $433 million).

Nintendo's teaser for Universal Studios Japan showcases Mario and Luigi, with versions of Princess Peach and Bowser's castles and what seem to be theme park character versions of Peach and Toad. Kotaku added that the Mushroom Kingdom might be brought to life as reflected in the photo posted on Twitter.

"The attraction area will also feature a variety of other globally popular Nintendo characters," the companies said. "Nintendo characters and the worlds they inhabit will be re-created at the highest level of quality through the strong partnership between Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto, Creative Fellow at Nintendo, and Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative, renowned for creative and technical excellence."

Furthermore, Nintendo and Universal Studios shared that its partnership will create an "expansive, immersive and interactive" Nintendo-themed attractions and feature "authentic environments filled with multiple attractions, shops and restaurants." The park attractions, however, will open separately over the next several years, the companies added.
