The HD remastered version of the point-and click visual novel,“The Silver Case”, will be released in early 2017 for the Playstation 4 console. The game was recently released in October 2016 for Windows and OS X operating systems. The original game was developed in 1999 for the Playstation One console by Grasshopper Manufacture.

Set in an alternate timeline, the game takes place in a city known as 24 Wards in modern Japan, where a series of homicide occurs. The High degree Murder Division is then dispatched to uncover the mystery of the serial killings around the city and discovered that their evidences point to an infamous serial killer known as Kamui Uehara. This serial killer is famous for eliminating high-profile government officials and was finally incarcerated after several years of pursuit.

“The Silver Case” allows gamers to play various characters through two different storylines: Transmitter and Placebo Scenarios. In the transmitter scenario, gamers play as a detective solving crimes with an adventure element through exploration and solving puzzles. Then, characters ask you questions related to the case as if there is a dialogue.

In Placebo, you play as an investigative journalist known as Tokio Morishima. The story is more extensive where players have an in-depth understanding of the main character’s personality and his motivations, according to pcgamer. However, the story is more straightforward and less interactive compared to the former since it requires players more reading.

“The Silver Case” is set to launch for the Playstation 4 console in the first quarter of 2017. The game is also available for Windows and OS X and cost $20 for both operating systems, according to playstationlifestyle.
