New York City was a vision in white as thousands gathered for the second Dîner en Blanc. The secret location of this elegant flash mob feast wound up being the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Dîner en Blanc, called the world's first viral event, is a secret soirée in which thousands meet at a location that is announced at the last minute. All of the guests wear only white as they dine at white tables and chairs.

The venue of the dinner was a secret until just before it started at 7p.m. Thousands of guests met up at over a hundred different meeting spots around New York City. They then went on a hunt to find the dinner location. Registered guests were sent emails telling them that this year's feast was at Lincoln Center.

Thousands of people gathered in the area, bringing their own tables, chairs, decorations and even food. The guest list was limited to 3,200, but thousands more wished they were included. Guest got an invite by word of mouth from the people behind the event. Some on a waiting list were also lucky enough to join at the last minute.

Last year, the waiting list contained 30,000 people. This year, another 7,000 were added according to Sandy Safi, co-founder of the group.

For those who had never seen the event and had never participated, it was unlike anything they have ever seen before as a sea of white took over Lincoln Center.

Guests took to Twitter to describe their troubles when trying to find the secret location. Others complained that the event wasn't very organized as people had to wait over an hour on a line for wine and there weren't enough people to serve the thousands of guests in attendance.

However, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves for the most part. Strangers became friends, they enjoyed good food and drinks, and danced the night away to a live jazz band, followed by a DJ.

Several Twitter users shared their photos of the enchanting event.

This was the second time that Dîner en Blanc was held. Last year's Dîner en Blanc took place on the Lower Manhattan waterfront, outside the World Financial Center.

They event is becoming a growing hit as last year's guest list was only limited to 1,200. This year, 2,000 more guests were able to attend and the event will probably grow even more in the future.

This flash mob feast takes place all over the world. There are feasts in over 20 cities on five different continents. Upcoming events will take place in Philadelphia, Chicago, Vancouver, Singapore and Brisbane, Australia. Before New York's event, the Dîner en Blanc was held in Paris, Lyon, Amsterdam, Munich, Zürich, Berlin, and Montreal.

Dîner en Blanc, French for dinner in white, was started by a group on friends in Paris in 1988. The event is organized through word of mouth and social media.
