Chinese billionaire, Wang Jianlin on Saturday announced that Dalian Wanda Group Co.'s Wanda City would be the planned investment to win over Walt Disney Co. as the global tourism operator. Dalian Wanda is one of Wanda City's up and coming entertainment milestones in China.

The Wanda Cultural Tourism City covers a theme park, a movie center, an aquarium center, hotels and retail stores, as per announced by the company in an emailed report, as reported in Bloomberg News.

The Wanda Cultural Tourism City covers a sprawling 200 hectares within Nanchang within the southeastern Jiangxi province. Wanda is reportedly an entertainment center that is of hot demand for 10 million people each year.

Not even a week prior, Wang criticized a Disney theme park that is slated to open in Shanghai on June 16, as reported by the same publication. Wang has declared that the mentioned up and coming theme park of Disney's in Shanghai would not be a match for Wang's Beijing native Wanda City entertainment projects. Wang made this announcement on May 22 in China Central Television.

Wanda projects' purpose is to win over the $610 billion tourism market within China. The Chinese government allegedly forecasts that the tourism industry in the country will grow in double as of 2020 in the midst of an increasing middle class.

However, the American Burbank, California-based Disney theme parks have more proven credentials in mandating the operations of theme parks. For one thing, Disney has established success in running Hong Kong Disneyland since 2005 in Hong Kong, China.

Word has it the Wanda project is now in preparation for a second entertainment park. This park is allegedly slated to be in Anhui province in Hefei city. The park is reportedly going to open in September.

Wang shared his sentiments over his goal to outnumber Disney in the operation of global theme parks in China, as reported in Shanghaiist.com. He said:

"Chinese culture led in the world's for 2,000 years, but since the last 300 years, because of our lagging development and the invasion of foreign cultures, we have more or less lacked confidence in our own culture."

Wanda's China-based theme park is allegedly going to cost about $800 million to build, as reported in The Guardian.
