It's been 7 decades since the United States hit the Japanese city of Hiroshima with an atomic bomb, which marked the end of World War II. On Friday, President Barack Obama is the first American president to go on a visit to the place where the atomic bomb in Hiroshima was dropped.

The visit of the American president in the beautiful Hiroshima is just one of the highlights of the tourism in the city. The figures from the April data indicated that almost 1.5 million people have paid a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum in 2015, as reported in CNN Edition. 2015 was the year that celebrated the 70th anniversary of the United States dropping the bomb on Hiroshima during World War II.

The international visitors in Hiroshima have doubled from 44.6 to 338.891 percent, as reported by the same site. The data indicated that it is the fourth year an additional of 104,531 international visitors visited Hiroshima as compared to the number of visitors that visited the city in 2014.

A Hiroshima Peace Media report shares one of the reasons why Hiroshima has been a popular destination for tourists, stating:

"The [Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation] believes that the museum's high ranking on a travel website added momentum to the increase, in addition to the rising number of international visitors to Japan."

Trip Advisor is likely the travel site that puts the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum as the top number two attraction in Japan, just before Miyajima island, which is also situated in the Hiroshima prefecture.

As per the announcement of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum office, the office would be closed on May 27, afternoon time, because of the President Obama's visit.

Obama stated that he would give honor to those who passed away in World War II, however, he said there would be no apology coming from the U.S. for the bombing, as reported in Reuters.com.

Different opinions circulated all over the Pacific regarding Obama's visit to Hiroshima, sans the sting of tension after the World War II bombing incident, as reported in Japan Today.
