A Facebook page has recently been the place where posts about the Zika virus and travel safety have dominated. For instance, a woman named Dana, shares that she has just not too long ago planned out a trip going to Aruba on August. However, she is now planning on going on a different destination for her vacation to distance herself from "Zika affected areas."

A Travelzoo survey, though, held in February 2016, indicated that 30 percent of survey participants have admitted to avoiding travel to warm or humid destinations so as to avoid the Zika infection, as reported in ABC News.

As per the statistics of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it was revealed that travels are having considerations of travelling to "yellow/alert level 2" type, this destination, though, distributes advanced safety precautions. A "red/warning level 3 location, though, warns of preventing unnecessary travel altogether.

The Zika virus fear, though, still enables travellers to benefit from travelling, in its own way. A Travelzoo survey has revealed that Fort Lauderdale and Arizona have been the places that have increased in 40 percent for top travel search destinations. Meanwhile, Miami has seen an increase of 35 percent top travel search online, according to a Travel Zoo data.

U.S. travel to Canada has also doubled recently. Travelzoo senior editor, Gabe Saglie, announced deals for the Canadian destinations have been in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto. The good exchange rate between the currencies of the United States and Canada has made Canada the favorite destination for U.S. travellers this summer.

Some airlines, though, have been offering reimbursements for airline tickets destined for Zika inflicted area destinations. Dr. Anthony Fauci, The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director shared his insights on the spread of Zika virus, saying the following, as reported by Pop Sugar:

"The concern is that we will have local transmission. In other words, people who get infected in the United States get bitten by a mosquito, but who have never left the continental United States."

Meanwhile, golf athlete, Rory McIlroy, has the possibility of not being able to play at the Rio Olympics because of the threat of Zika virus, as reported in Belfasttelegraph.co.uk.
