Former All-Star shooting guard Tracy McGrady believes he can still perform at a high level despite not playing in the NBA for almost two seasons. Moreover, the two-time scoring champ thinks he would be a great fit with the Los Angeles Lakers, who direly need talent this season.

In an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report writer Les Carpenter for the site's online Magazine, the Lab, McGrady did not have second thought in saying the he can still play in the NBA, and believes he's still better than half of the league.

"The thing is, I can still go, man," T-Mac says. He is driving from lunch to his daughter Layla's junior high school volleyball game, but the workout is still on his mind.

McGrady, who averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game over his 14-year NBA career, thinks playing for the Lakers seem to be a perfect scenario for him because the team clearly needs some capable players on their lineup.

"The ideal team, T-Mac says, would be the Lakers. The Lakers are inexperienced. The Lakers need players. He could be the second star the Lakers must have to go with Bryant."

Although he admitted that he cannot replicate the days where he used to score 40 points a game with relative ease, McGrady believed he can still contribute immensely for any team playing his own brand of basketball.

"My body is still in shape. I can go. It's about opportunity, though. ... I want no limits on who I am and what I can do, not stand in the corner and shoot jump shots," he says. "I want to be involved, that's not saying 10 to 15 shots, I want to be involved. I don't want to stand in the corner and shoot threes. That's not me."

Many analysts believed McGrady could have ended up one of the best players in history of the game if injuries (back spasms and knee problems) did rob the best years of his career. Nevertheless, T-Mac sounds very optimistic that a team would call for his service one day.
