FBI Agents Shot Near Ferguson - Two FBI agents were reportedly shot and wounded at a house in north St. Louis County early Wednesday. According to officials, the incident with two FBI agents shot near Ferguson, is not directly related to the racially charged unrest around Ferguson.

An FBI official reportedly told NBC News that the occurrence of the FBI agents shot near Ferguson could have resulted from the suspect's attempt at "suicide by cop." The suspect was later found dead.

FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu said the shooting of the FBI agents near Ferguson took place at approximately 2:53 a.m. She added that the two special agents were shot while assisting the University City Police Department to execute an arrest warrant at a home on North Hanley Road, near Monroe Avenue.

The FBI agents shot near Ferguson, one of whom was shot in the shoulder and the other shot in the leg, were helping with the arrest of 33-year-old Major Washington. According to the University City Police Department, Washington is a suspect Monday night shooting in which his mother was killed and a police officer was also shot in the chest.

Before Washington had the FBI agents shot near Ferguson, police received information that the he was armed and barricaded inside a house in St. Louis County, according to Reuters.

The two FBI agents shot near Ferguson early Wednesday happened on the scene of the barricaded house. A University City police statement said the suspect "is deceased," whilst providing details as to the circumstances leading to his death.

The incident of the two FBI agents shot near Ferguson unfolded at a time when arson and looting in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson was taking place for a second night. The unrest is happening due to a grand jury's decision of declining to indict Darren Wilson, a white policeman for fatally shooting an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown.

Authorities in St. Louis County have been dealing with violent demonstrations since the Monday decision.

According to FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu, the injuries of the two FBI agents shot near Ferguson were not life threatening.

"The incident is not directly related to the Ferguson protests," she said while declining to elaborate further.
