While veteran shooting guard Ray Allen has yet to make his decision for the upcoming NBA season, another title-contender was revealed interested to add the potent three-point specialist to their roster. According to writer Sam Smith, the Bulls could be a potential landing spot for Allen, who once worked out with head coach Tom Thibodeau during their time with the Boston Celtics.

Despite turning 39-years old last July, Allen is still the most-sought shooter in the free-agency market with multiple teams - except the Philadelphia 76ers - showing their desire in getting his service.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were thought as the leading team in the Allen's sweepstakes due to the shooter's affiliation with Ohio comeback kid LeBron James, but other teams have also gained steam in their pursuit of the shooter.

The San Antonio Spurs, the ball club that obliterated James and Allen's Heat team in the NBA Finals last June, also want to have another shooter in their lineup. The Spurs were the deadliest three-point shooting team last season, with shooting guard Danny Green leading the way with a .415 percent clip from beyond the arc.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards and New York Knicks are in contention as well to acquire Allen, who will reportedly make his decision to return midway into the season to avoid the punishment of a long season.

As for the Bulls' interest in Allen, Smith believed Chicago has to be one of the dozens ball clubs reportedly inquiring on his availability.

"Subsequently, there have been reports of the Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs expressing interest. The Bulls are believed to be among almost a dozen teams to have contacted Allen and his representatives. In fact, it would be a surprise if just about every team other that the non competitive 76ers have not contacted Allen, a savvy veteran who can make three pointers and likely will play for a veterans' minimum," according to Bulls.com writer.

Thibodeau's help system defense transformed Allen into a better defender during his time with the Celtics. According to rumors, the Bulls might have reserved a roster spot entering training camp for them to keep in run for Allen.

"Allen was at his best defensively in the help system run in Boston by Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, who has remained an Allen fan and advocate, often urging the Bulls in past seasons to pursue Allen," Smith said in his latest column "The Bulls also have kept their roster at 12, one under the league minimum, to have flexibility coming into training camp. A space being held for Allen?"
