The Cleveland Cavaliers' attempt to get Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves could be cancelled by the NBA, because one of the reported details of the forthcoming deal violates league's policies on trades.

Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported that the NBA could veto the trade for Love if the league found out there's a planned long term contract extension in place for the All-Star power forward.

Multiple sources indicated that Love to Cavs is now a done deal after the Wolves reportedly agreed to received 2014 no.1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, 2013 no.1 overall pick Anthony Bennett, a 2015 first round pick and another protected first rounder.

Yahoo Sports NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski indicated the truce between the Cavs and the T-Wolves includes a five-year, $120 million contract extension for Love once the trade is finalized.

"The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to send All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Cleveland is making the deal with Minnesota with a firm agreement Love will opt out of his contract in 2015 and re-sign with the Cavaliers on a five-year, $120 million-plus contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports."

If the report is true, then the league will reportedly veto the deal, a possibility that would prevent the much publicized Love to Cavs trade from happening.

"But sources say that the Cavs and Wolves, knowing that league officials are monitoring this transaction closely, have been careful not to make any public acknowledgments that trade details have already been agreed to. That's because Wiggins remains ineligible to move moved until 30 days pass from the signing his rookie contract."

"The Cavs were granted permission last month by Minnesota to speak to Love and his representatives in an introductory fashion, sources say, while James and Love have also been in direct contact about their long-term intentions of playing together in recent weeks. But sources insist that no agreement for Love to sign an extension in Cleveland next summer when he can become a free agent is in place," ESPN reported.

LeBron James, who is the primary driving force behind the soon-to-happen blockbuster deal, already expressed his enthusiasm to team up with Love, who was once his teammate in the gold-medal winning Team USA in the 2012 London Olympics.

"If he comes aboard, I will be very excited to have him," James said during an event in Akron, Ohio.

"I don't even really care about the 26 [points] and 12 [rebounds], I care about his basketball IQ. His basketball IQ is very, very high. I had the opportunity to spend 32 days with him in the 2012 Olympics. He was huge for us ... he's a great piece."

Many NBA experts believed the Cavs would be an instant championship contender if they eventually land Love to join forces with LeBron and another outstanding young All-Star player in Kyrie Irving.
