The 51-year-old mayor dies wasp attack as she stepped on wasps' nest while walking out, reports the Globe and Mail.  The beloved Quebec mayor got stung on her legs several times as a dozen swarming wasps attacked her, and resulted in her death.

According to the Daily Mail, Rouseel was vacationing at her lakeside home in Stratford at the time of the attack. She accidentally stood on the wasp nest and was immediately attacked by more than 15 wasps. CTV News reported that more than 15 bees stung her legs.

The New York Daily News said that before mayor dies wasp attack, paramedics tried to give her an EpiPen at the scene to treat an allergic reaction, but to no effect.  Chantal Charron, a La Prairie spokeswoma, told CBC News of the paramedics' efforts.

Channon told CBC that the mayor dies wasp attack because of the multiple stings and shock, but not because she was allergic to bees. Rouseel died at a nearby hospital from the stings and shock.

According to allergists, the Canadian mayor could have been allergic to the wasps, but she just had no idea about it. The Post said that as of the current moment, it still remains unclear whether Rouseel had a known allergy to wasps, which unlike bees, can sting repeatedly.

The town's deputy mayor, Laurent Blais, said that the mayor dies wasp attack though Rouseel had no known allergy to wasp stings. Meanwhile, everyone was left in shock of the incident.

According to the NY Daily News, Rouseel became an interim mayor from 2003 to 2005. She worked as head of the city since 2005. She recently won re-election to her third term, says reports. Rouseel had been mayor of the town since 2005, reports the National Post.

On Monday, in lieu of the recent incident of their mayor dies wasp attack, the town lowered its flags to half-mast, the National Post reported. Meanwhile, Montreal mayor, Denis Coderre, issued a statement Monday afternoon and said in the city hall that the town "has been profoundly affected by the death of this passionate municipal politician."

A La Prairie resident, Sylvie Trepanier, told CTV News of mayor dies wasp attack incident, 'Oh she was respected a lot. She was a wonderful woman and a fair woman and a woman of heart. She cared for us all those years.'

Rouseel's friend, Hélène Ste-Marie told reporters, 'I feel just infinite sadness, so much pain for them. She was just so full of life.'

According to experts who spoke to CTV, sometimes an allergy may not reveal itself unless someone is stung within quick succession of each other. Meanwhile, allergist Dr. Joseph Shuster at McGill University Health Centre said that cases of deaths from an insect sting are extremely rare. 

Many of the tonwspeople believe that mayor dies wasp attack was probably caused by the number of times she was stung.

A former colleague of Rouseel's, Reine Herbert, said she feels for Rouseel's children, who lost their father six years ago. Hebert said, 'I'm thinking about her family. They lost their father a few years ago. And it's like, you can't do that to the family...it's so sad.'

CTV News said, Rouseel's husband died six years ago from a heart attack.

Mayor dies wasp attack and she is survived by her two children - 18-year-old daughter, Constance, and 19-year-old son, Antonin, according to the Globe and Mail.
