Emirates Airbus order cancelled on Wednesday resulted in a major fall for the shares of the company. Dubai's airline, Emirates, has reportedly cancelled its order of 70 Airbus A350 planes. Because of Emirates Airbus order cancelled, the effect was a huge blow to the European planemaker and engine maker Rolls-Royce.

According to Reuters, Emirates Airbus order cancelled happening resulted in a major downfall for Airbus and Rolls-Royce as the entire requirement for 70 A350 jets was reportedly revoked.

Because of Emirates Airbus order cancelled happening, shares in Airbus fell more than 3 percent with the current loss of about 9 percent of the order book for the A350 jets. Reuters reports that the jets are only months away from beginning service after development for eight years which cost them a whopping $15 billion.

Meanwhile, Airbus addressed the Emirates Airbus order cancelled happening. The company admitted that it was disappointed with the loss of their sales to their second-largest customer. The Airbus A350 Planes are the new twin-engined wide-body aircraft of the plane manufacturer.

Despite their disappointment on Emirates Airbus order cancelled, the company is confident that the spare production slots will be filled soon and that there will be no financial impact from the cancellation.

In an interview with reporters in Toulouse, Airbus sales chief John Leahy said, "It is not good news commercially but not bad news financially. There is certainly going to be no hole in production." Leahy added that Boeing has even had more cancellations with the 787 Dreamliner.

Meanwhile, sole engine maker for the A350, Rolls-Royce said that the decision of Emirates Airbus order cancelled would likely result in a 2.6 billion-pound ($4.4 billion) hit to their order book. Rolls-Royce reportedly said in a statement: "While disappointed with this decision, we are confident that the delivery slots which start towards the end of this decade vacated by Emirates will be taken up by other airlines."

As it were, Airbus shares have been down 3.7 percent at 51.85 euros by 0847 GMT, while Rolls-Royce is down 1.7 percent at 1057 pence.

Emirates Airbus order cancelled was due to Emirates' transfer to the large A380 planes, for which it is held biggest customer, said Airbus. Still, the first A350 is set to be delivered to Qatar Airways in the fourth quarter of the year. An Airbus spokesman said, "We are confident that we will sell the (production) slots in the coming months. There's no impact on the programme as deliveries were scheduled to start at the end of the decade."

According to The Telegraph, according to the 2007 list prices, the deal amounted to about $16 billion or close to $22 billion.

Analysts said that the decision of Emirates Airbus order cancelled may increase chances of Airbus revamping its largest models. Emirates has reportedly been vying for Airbus on their A380 superjumbo upgrade to a more efficient engine.
