Rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo is called thus because the newborn is a half zebra and a half donkey. Located in Tamaulipas, Mexico, the rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo is an unusual cross-breed which is truly a feast for the eyes.

The rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo has been named Khumba. The baby zonkey which made its debut at the Reynosa Zoo on April 21, is a cross between a zebra and a donkey.

According to a WTVY report, Khumba's mother is a female zebra named Rayas, and his father is a blue-eyed albino donkey named Ignacio. The romance between the two animals eventually produced the rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo.

Apparently, Khumba's parents used to visit each other every afternoon, and the zookeepers eventually found Rayas pregnant.

Reynosa, the place where the rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo occurred, is the largest city of the northeastern state of Tamaulipas. According to the zoo, Khumba is extra rare as zebra and donkey chromosomes were known to be incompatible. However, even though the rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo, Khumba, is considered unique, he is not the first zonkey in the world.

A zonkey was also born in Italy and named Ippo. Ippo apparently had a huge impression on the public and he eventually became a tourist attraction in Italy. As such, he will probably be the rival of Khumba, the rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo, for fame and attention.

Ippo was born in Florence last year, and he was reportedly conceived when his dad, a zebra, jumped over a fence into an area which housed donkeys.

Rare Zonkey born in Mexican zoo, Khumba, isn't totally alone in the world as the mix breeds can also be found in countries like Japan, China and the United States.
