Giraffe Riddle: Game Goes Viral on Facebook

A giraffe riddle is spreading through Facebook like wildfire, intriguing many users with a viral social media game where users change their profile picture to a giraffe if they answer a riddle incorrectly, according to the Christian Science Monitor.

"It's 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up," the riddle reads. Unexpected visitors!

"It's your parents and they are here for breakfast," it continues. "You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"

The answer is at the bottom so as to not spoil it for anyone.

The process works like this: Someone posts the riddle on their Facebook page and challenge their friends to provide the correct answer through a private message, preventing one person's reply from spoiling the riddle for everyone. If the answer is correct, the friend keeps the same profile page they have. However, if they give the wrong answer, they have to change their profile picture to that of a giraffe.

It's currently unclear how the riddle began circulating around Facebook, or what giraffes have to do with anything, but it's just a fun game, which has led to it going viral.

Another reason people may be enjoying the game is that it's something viral on Facebook that doesn't contain any malicious software or any false reports that any famous people have died, or both in one. Recently, both of those have begun circulating around Facebook.

There are two accepted answers to the riddle that are considered correct.

SPOILER ALERT

The correct answers are "the door" or "your eyes." The reason is, if you think about it, really obvious. It's 3 a.m. in the riddle and you would most likely be asleep when your parents arrive unexpectedly. If you are trying to pick a food item, you will probably just end up trying to figure out what difference it would make.
