NASCAR driver David Gilliland has come out and told Danica Patrick to just "shut up and race," after Patrick accused him of trying to take her out during Sunday's NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway.

"He tries to take me out every time," Patrick said over the team radio during the STP 400. "Tell his spotter that I'm coming after him if he does it again. In fact, I might just do it right now."

Though, she didn't take justice in her own hands, her feelings were made clear and didn't discuss the matter any further.

On the other hand, Gilliland did respond after his 23rd-place finish. Through spokeswoman Shari Spiewak, he delivered the aforementioned four words: "Shut up and race."

Hearing what Gilliland has to say, Patrick released her own statement, again, through a spokesman:

"It's disappointing because I think we could have had a much better finish with the Go Daddy car, but (trash on the grille) is one of those things that's out of our control," she said. "The pit crew was awesome."

For Patrick, who in her rookie year,  finished eighth in the restrictor-plate race at Daytona and 12th on the short track at Martinsville, the 25th-place finish was her best race this year on a track that relies primarily on downforce.

"Be proud of yourself," her crew chief Tony Gibson told her over the team radio at the end of the race. "You drove a hell of a race today. You can't do nothing about the grille there, so be proud of yourself," according to the Sporting News.

Patrick responded: "The track tightened up. We could have kept up with it better."

Next up for Patrick and her No.-10-GoDaddy Chevrolet is the Toyota Owners 400 at the Richmond International Raceway.
