If you're an extravagant person who doesn't mind spending money, you'll probably love to live in the most expensive cities. There are several cities that top the list with expensive residential estates, high-end cars, hotel suites, dining, etc. Global Wealth and Lifestyle Report 2020 ranked the world's most expensive cities that you can choose from.

Below is a top ten list of the world's most expensive cities to live in.

1. London, UK

London is not just the most expensive city in the United Kingdom but in entire Europe. The city has very high rent prices, with three-bedroom apartments going for around $10,000. But it's easy to get a mortgage such as doctor home loans and get your own place.

What's more, there are comparatively high salaries in London hence balancing the lifestyle perfectly. Apart from being among the most expensive cities, it's also a nice place to live in. London is famous as a city of opportunities where you can move from rags to riches.

2. Hong Kong, China

When looking for the most expensive cities to live in in Asia, Hong Kong will not miss in the list. One of the reasons for this is because its currency is pegged in US dollars. This has made the cost of houses, food, and other amenities to hike.

Hong Kong city is ranked worst globally in the Cost of Living Index as per Expat Insider Survey. The performance was due to its high rent prices, where it ranked second last in affordable housing. Food prices are also very high, and you must expect to pay a lot in supermarkets and restaurants.

3. Toronto, Canada

Toronto is ranked as one of the world's livable cities and one of the most expensive. This is the largest city in Canada, though not the capital. If you live anywhere near downtown, the city can be very expensive.

Rent in Canada is the most expensive. Monthly expenses, such as phone plans, transit, and groceries, are also very expensive.

4. Sydney, Australia

Sydney is a beautiful city with the best climate. If you tour Sydney, you'll have a chance to see the best beaches, beautiful parks, big art scenes, and dine in the best restaurants. But you must know that you're going to pay a fortune for all this because Sydney is another one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Property prices in Sydney are relatively high, whether you're buying or renting. The prices vary from place to place, but they're the most unaffordable houses among major cities in the world.

5. Paris, France

You've probably heard a lot of good things about touring Paris, and you can't wait to live there. Life here is exciting and romantic. Life in Paris is vibrant, and you'll love to learn the local language and adapt to the Parisians' customs.

But living in Paris is completely different from touring because life there can be pretty expensive. Daily amenities and prices of homes in France's populous city can be very outrageous. You'll be shocked to find out how expensive beer can be in your dream city of Paris.

6. Singapore Is Among the Most Expensive Cities to Live In

Singapore is known to be the city of the best opportunities with one of the strongest economies. But the city attracts a very high cost of living. The city is renowned for its extravagance and wealth.

Singapore boasts of high quality of life. There are expensive homes here making both renting and buying costly. However, other things like public transport, food, nightlife, and parks are affordable. It doesn't have to be too expensive if you're just visiting as a tourist.

7. Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles' cost of living forms 20% of all the 248 Teleport cities. This means it's one of the most expensive places to live in. The housing market in the region is extremely high, with many new residents arriving, contributing to the city's housing shortage.

Food, amenities, and other basic needs in Los Angeles are highly-priced; hence you must be prepared to increase your daily living costs when you move here. On the brighter side, salaries are high to cover the costs. Businesses also thrive in the city.

8. Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva is the second-largest city in Switzerland, which is also one of the most expensive places to live in Europe. Living in Geneva is considered luxury with a high quality of life. But the cost of living here is very expensive that even Swiss nationals consider too high for them.

Despite the high costs of living, Geneva people enjoy good transport linking them to all of Europe. There are many international airports, as well as incredible road and water transport. In general, the city has one of the best infrastructures in the world.

9. Zurich, Switzerland

If you're new to Switzerland, you'll think Zurich is the capital city. Well, Zurich is not the capital city of Switzerland, but it's the most popular one and makes it in the list of the world's most expensive cities.

If you're touring Zurich, expect to only window shop on your shopping trip because the prices here are jaw-dropping. Well, you can at least treat yourself to beautiful sightseeing and expensive buildings whose history stretched back to the Middle Ages.

10. Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo is the capital of Japan, which has ranked in the top list of the most expensive cities not only in Asia but the world. Property prices in Tokyo are high, with an average two-bedroom apartment going for around $350. Leisure activities and entertainment are also highly-priced as well as eating and drinking.
