The late girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius, Reeva Steenkamp, has been laid to rest at her funeral in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on Tuesday.

The Huffington Post reported that the 29-year-old model's funeral service was attended by grieving family and friends. The law school graduate, actress and model was allegedly killed by Olympic running boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius. Prosecutors charged Pistorius with premeditated murder. She was tragically shot at his home on Valentines Day.

Reeva's brother said to CNN outside her funeral, "There's a space missing inside all the people she knew that can't be filled again."

Barry Roux who is Pistorius' defense lawyer denied the premeditated murder charges in a hearing in Pretoria saying that it was an accident.

Reeva was shot to death in the bathroom of Pistorius' home, who is famous for being a double amputee that competed in the recent, London Olympics. The two had been dating for a few months, reported CBS News.

"Today everyone is here as a family, and there is only one thing missing: Reeva. This is so painful," said Michael Steenkamp, Reeva's uncle to CBS News.

Reeva's family says they are looking for answers about Reeva's tragic death. "All we have is this horrendous death to deal with ... to get to grips with. All we want are answers ... answers as to why this had to happen, why our beautiful daughter had to die like this," Reeva's mother June Steenkamp to a South African newspaper reported CBS.

A few hours after Reeva's funeral, Pistorius said in a court affidavit that he mistakenly killed his girlfriend by shooting her through a bathroom door that was locked.

The Associated Press reported that Mike Steenkamp said after Reeva's cremation ceremony, "We are here as a family and there's only one thing missing and that's Reeva."

Pistorius said in the affidavit that he loved Reeva and that shot her by mistake because he thought there was an intruder in the house and she was in danger.

Prosecutors say that Pistorius planned to kill her because they had a fight.  Official records obtained by the AP reported that Pistorius applied for firearm licenses for six more guns weeks before Reeva's death.

"In details obtained from the South African Police Service's National Firearms Center and given over the telephone, Pistorius applied for licenses for a Smith & Wesson model 500 revolver, a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, a Vector .223-caliber rifle and three shotguns: A Mossberg shotgun, a Maverick shotgun and a Winchester shotgun," reported the AP.
