Bill Paxton played the villainous John Garrett in "Agents of SHIELD." Paxton passed away Saturday due to complications from surgery, and he appeared in six episodes of the series during Season 1.

According to Entertainment Weekly, when it was revealed that Hydra has long infiltrated SHIELD, it was uncovered that that Garrett was actually Hydra. He used high-level security access to gain classified information, and he made it appear as though he can see the future.

Paxton's character did die during Season 1's finale, but recently, "Agents of SHIELD" introduced a new digital Matrix-like world known as the Framework where Hydra reigns. Fans are then curious if Garrett will be brought back to life, but the series' bosses made it clear that that's not going to happen.

Marvel recently released a statement about Paxton's death, saying that they are deeply saddened by the loss, and that the actor's contributions to Marvel Universe "will be remembered fondly," ComicBook said. Although Grant Ward's (Brett Dalton) character will be reprised, that is not going to be the case for Garrett.

Some of Paxton's "Agents of SHIELD" co-stars paid tribute to the actor via social media. Clark Gregg said that Paxton made everything that he was in "better, deeper and funnier with his big open heart and his world-class artistry." Brett Dalton said that Paxton is his mentor and that the world is just a sadder place without him.

Paxton started his Hollywood career working in the art department, and then went to have a colorful career which span for four decades. He was born in Texas in 1955, and he admitted that while growing up, he was a huge fan of Clint Eastwood. Paxton said that he has always wanted to make films, and some actors say that he was an underrated director.
