"Bates Motel" star Freddie Highmore is set to become a lead star of the ABC medical drama pilot show "The Good Doctor" from the "House" creator David Shore and "Hawaii Five-0" co-star Daniel Dae Kim. Even if his previous series will be ending this spring on A&E, there is still a potential Freddie Highmore character that is coming on the way.

Highmore is expected to play a role of Dr. Shaun Murphy who is a brilliant and talented young doctor who is a little bit of genius. His character has been known of having autism and which will generally affect his social interaction among others. However, his character will be luckier of having a mentor in the person of Dr. Ira Glassman, Catermatt reported.

It is still unknown on what the future holds for this show and it still was never confirmed yet on who will play the role of Glassman in this series. However, what the network was sure of was that Highmore is a potential star of this new show. He has been a good actor and immensely talented in general. Thus, they can really say that there will be a flock of people who will become interested in bringing him up in this series.

After taking his role being Norman Bates who suffered from an identity disorder, the actor will start undertaking for this new role. This series will be written by Shore based on a South Korean format and will be directed by Seth Gordon, Deadline reported.

Further, the series will be produced also by Shore and Erin Gunn via Sony TV-based Shore Z. As for now, it has been the aim of ABC to have its pilot made be aired and immediately after that, they'll start to see changes on what they want to do with their shows. The network still has until May to have their decision come to order.
