The Angelina Jolie movie "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" reboot is in the works. Pre-production has started three years ago and now the actors playing major roles are being revealed. "Tomb Raider" casts Walton Goggins who will play Lara Croft's antagonist, with its name not yet known. Alicia Vikander takes the role of Jolie.
Goggins is known for his performances in "The Shield", "Justified", and "Django Unchained". Although no much details on the 2018's live-action film a hint was seen in the "Tomb Raider" Twitter account.
On his Instagram account, Goggins posted a photo of a piece of headwear according to Polygon. It was captioned, "2017...day 3... and imma bout to go Raid a motherfucking Tomb." The Angelina Jolie film "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" was shown in 2001 and the "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life" was released in 2003.
The film produced by Warner Bros., MGM and GK Films is set to be released in March 2018 as per Movieweb. The movie is based on the video game series that started in 2013. Walton Goggins shared that he is very excited about this movie. He said, "The structure and the foundation of this story are so solid and so interesting. It's so unbelievably entertaining, and yet it's real in the journey that it takes you on." The character he is playing is angry, desperate and confused.
The story will follow the original story where Lara Croft was searching for her lost father. The movie did well at the box office, though. It earned $274 million which is good enough during the time. The second movie did not so well with $156 million worldwide.
"Tomb Raider" casts Walton Goggins and Alicia Vikander and this has been announced in social media. Shooting will commence next month. By that time, more details about the movie might be shared by the producers.
