The rumored release date of the beat-em up follow up, "Injustice 2" happened to be the final and confirmed release date. Fans can now expect the second entry in the series this coming May 16 2017.

Gamespot once reported that the man behind "Mortal Kombat" and the creation of the first "Injustice" teased with a release date for a particular game a few days ago. It happens that the tease was actually for "Injustice 2" and is also a confirmed date of when the game will hit the shelves after reaching out to Warner Bros.

The tweet shows "i2.05.16.17" and it was pretty much the only teaser needed to figure out that the game is set to come out on May 16 2017. However, this tweet comes after a recent update in the Xbox Live Rewards website, where it was indicated that the game would come out earlier in March. Nevertheless, Boon told the rumor off.

Still, the game still lack some character reveals for the game as fans deem it. So far, only Harley Quinn and Deadshot are the confirmed characters for the sequel and despite just four months away, not a lot have been teased and confirmed except the gameplay shown at the 2016 E3 event showcasing Super Girl and Black Manta and a few additions like Blue Beetle, Wonder Woman and Gorilla Grodd.

According to Polygon, the confirmed release date is specifically for the North-American release of the game. There's no official word for the European or Asian release if ever there's any scheduled. The game also happens to be only scheduled for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for the mean time.

There's no news regarding a PC release for "Injustice 2", though it is likely to happen down the road after the game's initial release date. The first was released back in 2013 and was available for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
