Stephen King's "It" has become one of poster boys for coulrophobia or fear of clowns. With 56 novels under his name, his last name seems like a perfect fit as the King of Horror.

Most of Stephen's novels have made it to the big screen providing him with a huge paycheck. Producers, directors, actors, and especially viewers just love seeing his work on the big screen.

Among his most famous novels is "The Shining" which was made into film by legendary director Stanley Kubrick. Stephen King's "It" has been made into a two-part miniseries in 1990, and a full-length film is in production.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new version would feature Bill Skarsgard as the evil clown Pennywise. Pennywise was first played by Tim Curry which critics defined as both iconic and properly embodies the evil of the character.

As a son of actor Stellan Skarsgard, Bill Skarsgard is expected to provide excellent performances with his film roles. However, he aims to take a different route with the character. He acknowledges the great performance of Tim Curry, doing a different take will avoid any direct comparison between the two.

An article from Game Spot mentioned that the new adaptation would be directed by Andres Muschietti. Muschietti has 6 films to his credit so far, but he has directed and written the 2013 film "Mama". Fans are expecting him to properly transition the tone and direction he had for "Mama" with the new film.

Gary Dauberman is also assigned to write the screenplay to the new adaptation. Dauberman's career mostly involves horror films, he has also written for Annabelle. With their film resume, both of them are expected to create a great adaptation to the novel.

According to Den of Geek, a first look at Skarsgard's Pennywise is now available on Entertainment Weekly's twitter. The new adaptation of "It" is scheduled for release on September 8, 2017 in the US.
