Christmas spirit fills the air and people are as jolly as they can be at this time of the year. Aside from wrapping presents under the Christmas tree and the winter snow what's more to look forward to as we count the days before the holiday?

As the most awaited time of the year is only a few days away, family reunions are also on the way. What better way to spend the holidays with the all-time favorite Christmas films? From the movie "Home Alone" to "Polar Express", in courtesy of Mirror and International Business Times here are the top five movies to watch with family and friends this holiday season.

Topping the list is the 1990 Christmas comedy film which tops the highest-grossing holiday film of all time, "Home Alone", with $476.6 million box office. The movie takes place in the home of the McCallister's in a suburb of Chicago when the 8-year-old Kevin was left home when his family leaves for Paris to spend the holidays.

Next is Dr. Seuss' "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" which garnered $345.1 million way back 2000 is started by Jim Carrey. The story revolves around the Grinch (Carrey) who hatefully presents Christmas but ends up celebrating the holiday in the end.

The 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell in "Elf" is third on the list. Ferrell who played Buddy in this Christmas movie was accidentally transported to the North Pole when he was a child, because of this he was raised among Santa's elves through adulthood and time came when he began the search for his real father. This $220.4 million box office surely deserves this spot.

Although not a Christmas film, Disney's "Frozen" is on the list. The movie that made the world sing "Let It Go" for a long time earned $1.276 billion. This movie follows Anna (Kristen Bell) together with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his sidekick reindeer to help bring back summer that her sister Elsa (Idina Menzel) took away because of her icy spell.

Last but definitely not the least is the drama/fantasy film "Polar Express" which earned $307.5 million in the box office. This movie follows a young boy with his inspiring adventure to the North Pole to discover the beautiful wonders of life.
