More green is expected to be seen throughout next year. The Pantone Color Institute forecasted that "Greenery" will be dominating the fashion, architecture, consumer products and technology, and social media in 2017.

However, according to CNN Money, Pantone Color Institute was very specific about the shades of green that could be referred to as "Greenery". It should be "a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature's greens revive, restore and renew."

Vice-President of Pantone Color Institute, Laurie Pressman, said that "Greenery" was picked mainly because of its representation of rebirth and regeneration, as well as a symbol of new beginnings. She said that picking the color of the year should represent vitality and energy, as well as our movements to protect Mother Earth. As how Yahoo! News' headline regards the forecast, it "reflects what is happening to the world."

So how do they pick the color of the year? Pantone Color Institute team members worldwide spent the entire 2016 to study trends in different aspects, such as fashion, social media and consumer products, to look for the color which reflects and influences these elements.

"Greenery" is associated with nature, and the relaxation that it gives. A very stressful way of life can cause us to find an escape. As what the Japanese concept "forest bathing" teaches us, we turn to nature or anything close to it, in order to deal with stress and take a breather. How to be close to nature when you live in the middle of the city? Well, you can paint your walls green, or look at anything green. Bringing the "Greenery" to you is as effective as walking through the forest.

Although it isn't mentioned by Pantone, but "Greenery" can also be associated with dollar bills. Could it mean 2017 will become a better year for our economy? We'll just have to wait for a few more days and see for ourselves.
