"Game of Thrones" breakthrough actress, Emilia Clarke will soon be in a galaxy far, far away as she aboards the "Star Wars" Han Solo spinoff. The actress will star alongside Alden Ehrenreich, playing Han and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.

According to Variety, the three lead stars endured the gruelling casting process of the film. The tests began at the beginning of the year when thousands of actors had meetings and read for the title character that was eventually bagged by Ehrenreich.

In October, there are batches of actresses who read for the female lead. The first batch includes Tessa Thompson, star of "Selma" and "Creed," Naomi Scott , "Power Rangers" , lead actress, and Zoe Kravitz. The second group consists of Kiersey Clemons, star of "Dope," Jessica Henwick, Clarke's "Thrones" co-star, actress Adriana Arjona, from "Emerald City," and Emilia Clarke, who won the part.

Back in September, the executives and directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are also writing the script, held an audition for another group. After struggling to get their choice, they decided to go on another round.11

The movie spinoff will be set before "Star Wars: A New Hope" just like the other standalone project, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." It is expected to begin production in January and will be in theatres on May 25, 2018. Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur will serve as producers of the standalone film.

The major cast members of "Game of Thrones" will finish shooting by the end of this year. The seventh season will have shorter episode counts compared to the previous ones, so Clarke's involvement in the latest season will not affect her shooting schedule with the Han Solo movie.

Aside from "Game Of Thrones," Emilia Clarke also appeared in the big screen. Her notable film roles are Sarah Connor in "Terminator Genisys" and as the lead actress in this year's blockbuster romantic drama, "Me Before You," which grossed $207.5 million worldwide.
