Fans have asked about it for years, and at E3 2016 Bethesda finally announced something about it and recently, it already launched the remastered version of Skyrim which will be played on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

According to Euro Gamer, "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition" packages the original game and its add-on content with new visuals and mod support. It will also be available for free on PC for existing Skyrim players, permitting them to continue their adventures with revamped visuals and Bethesda's own mod suite.

Moreover, The Special Edition runs at a native 1080p on both consoles - PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - adding that it's believed to use the same temporal anti-aliasing that was featured in Fallout 4.

Regarding the frame rate, both console versions target 30fps. Game Spot said the Xbox One version easily reaches 1080p with "some degree of overhead left over", but not enough to get up to 60 fps.

With all these information, it appears that you won't go wrong with either console. "So far, both consoles appear remarkably like-for-like in terms of their presentation," Euro Gamer said.

One thing to consider is that the Special Edition will get a PS4 Pro patch to support 4K. The console will be released on November 10 which retails for $400.

"Thus far, Skyrim Special Edition looks pretty solid," Game Euro said. "It can be viewed as an enhanced PC port for the current-gen platforms and in comparison to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, there's a night and day improvement in terms of performance and stability, not to mention resolution, art quality and overall levels of detail."

Another thing to bear in mind, Skyrim Special Edition mods are limited on PS4 to those that use in-game assets, meaning there are less mods available on Xbox One. Bethesda also mentioned that it is working on a fix for the game's audio issues.
